ABA, YESTERDAY AND TOMORROW: CALL TO SAVE MACEDONIA ANSWERED

By Ubani Newman Ubani

The scriptures, particularly Acts Chapter 16 verses 9 and 10 states, “And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them( KJV).”

The popular Macedonia call in the scriptures which Apostle Paul heeded to without hesitation could be correlated to the response Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu gave to the ancient commercial city of Aba. The difference is that, while Apostle Paul’s call was to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, that of Governor Ikpeazu was the gospel of changing the narratives of the Enyimba city for the better.

Incontrovertibly, with the recent developments in Aba and Abia State entirely, it is now conclusively obvious that the emergence of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu as Abia Governor in 2015 can be compelled to an answered call to save Macedonia as captured in the vision of the biblical Paul. This is true considering the huge progress made by the Ikpeazu-led administration in changing the narrative of Aba so far.

This administration, from day one started in Aba by flagging-off of road constructions and reconstructions. From the day of the flagging-off till date many roads have been completed by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and most of them done with cement pavement technology, which guarantees that they would last for many years to come before undergoing further maintenance. Very soon the first ever flyover constructed in Abia State would be commissioned by this jinx breaker of our time, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D. The ongoing heavy constructions at Ngwa Road, Obohia, Uratta, Port-Harcourt road and their environs are testimonies of a better tomorrow for Aba and Abians. Those who deal on small scale businesses in Aba including traders and skillful fabricators, particularly in Ngwa road and its environs which includes those numerous adjoining streets could testify of the gains associated with the fixing of their environment. There is no doubt that Aba’s tomorrow is great as the major reconstructions that has commenced in Ngwa Road and its environs would give further impetus to the entrepreneurial instincts of the Aba man which have been affected negatively by poor infrastructural occasioned by flood and blocked drainages. These are becoming history with Ikpeazu’s intervention.

Governor lkpeazu’s actions and investments in the reconstructions of the areas would make Aba bounce back as the economic and commercial nerve centre of Igboland and maintain its current status of the SME capital of Nigeria.
Indeed the impacts of these innovations introduced by Governor Ikpeazu cannot be overemphasized while the economic importance of the new development cannot be measured. It is now crystal clear that the Enyimba city can never go back to it previous ruined condition. So, history will never forget Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.

The Aba Fashion Week that took place between 9th to 11th December was one of the numerous ways the Ikpeazu-led administration is showing support and empowering our innovative entrepreneurs in the fashion industry to improve in their visibility and patronage. Truly, the fashion industry has received robust support by the government which has made ‘Made-in-Aba Products’ a brand to reckon with globally. It is an unarguable fact that Aba Fashion Week is one of the best things to have happened to Aba in recent times. It is very rare for a first edition of an event to gain the kind of traction the Aba Fashion Week got. With this event and its results, Governor Ikpeazu has once again embarked on building a greater future for the skillful Aba residents, who are popular in fashion and designs with all kinds of fabrics. The Governor’s support to ensure the event came to fruition as well as his personal tweets in its promotion is highly commendable. Kudos to Chief Sam Hart and all that ensured the Governor’s instructions were carried out for the success of the #AFW2020.

The springing up of new companies and rejuvenation of moribund ones in Aba and Abia are undeniable facts that things are changing for good under the able leadership of Governor Ikpeazu. Some of these new companies and business firms springing up here and there in Aba and environs, especially, those companies normally seen in Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt are pointers that Abia, under Governor Ikpeazu is moving forward.

Apart from road projects and activities geared towards promoting ‘Made-in-Aba Products’ by Governor Ikpeazu. He has also concluded plans of providing alternative power for the hardworking people of Aba. Further more, shoe production factory has been set up and security beefed up to ensure security of lives, property and businesses. These and more are what Governor Ikpeazu is doing as a response to the demands of the Abia people.

In the light of these and in consideration that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has come to to Macedonia to help the Aba community, it is instructive that those still sharing old pictures and videos of Aba to discontinue with such cheap propaganda. They are enjoined to visit Aba now and share the new images of the new Aba under Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D. With Governor Ikpeazu Abia is really on the move!

Thank you!
