Alex Otti and His Unworthy, Oversized Borrowed Robe

By Jude Ndukwe

The title of Dr is not for every Tom, Dick and Harry; Scammer, Fraudster and Gambler. It is a title reserved for honourable and gentlemen with advanced learning in particular fields. So when those who have been ceremoniously bestowed (even when they procured it) with an honoris causa go about wearing the title of a Dr like a badge inseparable from their scrotum, men of goodwill are worried and are expected to question such misleading act with a view to putting the records straight.

The fact of the matter is that universally, only those with a PhD or those who are trained in the medical fields are qualified to use the title Dr.

For Alex Otti not to have known this, failed, ignored or deliberately neglected to know, shows how shallow he is in knowledge of what he misuses, abuses and brags about like demons brag about their capacity for evil. It also shows how hypocritical, immoral and insincere he can be in his dealings.

A man who goes about dressing himself in borrowed robes of academic heights in order to appear knowledgeable and gentlemanly before unsuspecting public whereas his utterances and writings have always depicted him as nothing but a polished urchin who cannot be trusted with people’s destinies which are too delicate to gamble with, has unraveled.

Otti himself knows that his utterances, writings and actions, including overt threats to the good people of Abia, have resulted to a bleeding deficit to his already battered image, hence, he needs a title immorally prefixed to his name to create for him the impression of an academic worthy of rubbing shoulders with genuine PhD holders like Okeze Ikpeazu PhD.

Surely, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu is everything Mr Alex Otti dreams of becoming. It surely beats his imagination how a sitting governor in our clime can remain so tranquil, unruffled, refined, classy and gentlemanly in the face of extreme provocations by desperate political opposition elements who have added scurrilous attacks to their virulent outbursts and belligerent posturings. Thinking that such extraordinary characteristics are imposed by a procured titles, Alex Otti has reinforced his false title in an attempt to shove it down the throat of innocent Abians and Nigerians.
In the U.S., for example, “university policies vary in wording but consistently indicate honorary degree recipients should not represent themselves as holding an earned degree”. That is deceit. Pure and simple!

Drexel University in the USA says: “Do not refer to an honorary degree holder with the courtesy title Dr. or Hon. When referring to someone who holds an honorary degree, make clear that the degree is honorary”.

George Fox University also of the USA on its own part states that “A person with an honorary doctorate is not called Dr”.

But in his continued journey of incurable arrogance, jealousy, deceit, power mongering, recklessness, brashness and rashness, all of which saw to the blighting of his banking career particularly as it concerns his tenure as MD/CEO of Diamond Bank between 2011 and 2014, a period, extending to 2007 to 2015, which the Central Bank of Nigeria recently discovered that some fraudulent transfers of humongous amounts were made on behalf of a leading telecoms company by four banks including Diamond Bank with the accruing kickbacks due to the MD/CEO and for which the bank was fined N250m, Alex Otti remains a man of doubtful character who must not be given the chance to run Abia State aground the way he was alleged to have fraudulently run Diamond Bank into murky waters through such transfers and for which Access Bank is now buying up major assets of Diamond Bank.

While Diamond Bank might be lucky to have Access Bank buying up its assets largely due to Otti’s recklessness as MD/CEO, the question Abians are asking is, who will buy up Abia if Otti is given the impossible opportunity of also running Abia aground like he did to Diamond Bank? Who?

A man who cannot be humble enough to confine himself to his title of “Mr” but goes about with an honourary doctoral degree like one he earned is suspect. Such a man, naturally, does not have the basic capacity to respect simple charters like that of Abia’s Charter of Equity, especially when such noble charters are garnished with exceptional performance by the incumbent.

That unearned doctoral degree of Alex Otti is certainly an oversized borrowed robe! He feels he needs it to cover his nakedness but Abians have already seen all that needs to be seen about him and he has nothing left to hide with such embellished unearned silk of a doctoral degree.

Fortunately for Abians, all that Mr Alex Otti has been promising them as a Masterplan are all what Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has been executing as Master Projects and even more. Abians will rather go with the reality of master projects rather than the unsure promises of a master plan.

NdiAbia will certainly remain committed to the upward trajectory which Governor Ikpeazu is currently taking them through and will return him to office via wide margins at the forthcoming elections, to the chagrin and consternation of naysayers. The good thing is that our hospitals are now well equipped with highly motivated health workers that the Ottis of this world would not need to visit any medical facility abroad to treat themselves of the after-effect of seeing Dr Okezie Ikpeazu being sworn in for a second term in office on May 29, 2019. I can assure them that, in his magnanimity, Governor Ikpeazu, will direct that they be treated free of charge, for that is what a man who loves God does for those who have declared themselves an enemy of God’s Chosen!
