GOV. IKPEAZU CALLS FOR SYNERGY WITH NIGERIAN ARMY TO FIGHT INSECURITY

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has called on the Nigerian Army to synergize with his administration in fighting all sorts of insecurity, including armed robbery, banditry, cultism and kidnapping which are gradually raising their ugly heads in Abia state.

The Governor made the call while receiving the new Commander, Nigerian Army 14 Brigade Ohafia, Brigadier General Solomon Babatunde Kumapayi at Government House Umuahia. He urged the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the State to mount surveillance and nip in the bud the proliferation of small arms around communities sharing common boundaries with the State, informing that Abia is in the concourse of many States in the South East and South South.

Governor Ikpeazu,who disclosed that his administration has zero tolerance for crime noted that his vision is in tandem with that of the Federal Government, which is geared towards creating conducive environment for investment and job creation. He commended the officers of the Nigerian Army for their gallantry and provision of security for the NIBRA Shoe Factory and other investments springing up around Asa and other parts of Abia State and assured the new Commander 14 Brigade Ohafia of his sustained relationship with him.

Earlier, the Commander 14 Brigade Ohafia, Brigadier General Solomon Kumapayi restated the commitment of his command to maintaining peace and security in the State . He assured that he and his men would nip in the bud issues of cultism, robbery, banditry and related crimes.

The new Commander who equally said he came to familiarize with the Governor described the State as very peaceful and promised to collaborate with other sister security agencies in achieving the needed security in the State and thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his support to the Nigerian Army in the State.

The Nigerian Army later presented a souvenir to the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
