GOVERNOR IKPEAZU COMMENDS ICAN PRESIDENT, CHARGES HIM TO LEAVE GOOD LEGACIES

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has commended the Abia State born ICAN President for his leadership qualities and charged him to ensure he leaves good legacies in the professional body.

Governor Ikpeazu gave the commendation while receving the national leadership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in Government House, Umuahia. He assured that he would support the building of the ICAN’s Resource Centre in Umuahia, saying that that the centre would help in building capacity of Accountants in Abia State.

According to the Governor, his administration would leverage on the services of ICAN to raise the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Abia State.

Earlier in his speech, the President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Maazi Nnamdi Okwuadigbo lauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for providing land for the professional body in the State to build their office.He equally commended the Governor for honouring the institute during her the 49th Annual Accountants Conference held in Abuja.

Maazi Okwuadigbo disclosed that he was in the State for familiarization visit in the State. He expressed the readiness and commitment of the ICAN in collaborating with the Abia State government, especially in the area of capacity building of Accountants in the State, describing the body as experts in public funds management.

The President, who made gift presentations to the Governor equally used the opportunity to wish the Governor a happy 55th birthday.
