The former Minister of Aviation Mr Femi Fani-Kayode said he would rather die in the main opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) than to decamp to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
The PDP stalwart in a tweet was reacting to a statement credited to the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo. The VP had advised members of the opposition to join the ruling party before PDP goes into extinction.
Osibanjo who spoke at the 80th birthday dinner/gala night in honour of former APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun in Abuja was quoted by Business Day as saying, “You can see that we politicians are very faithful and very loyal indeed. I can only ask our friends in PDP also to ensure that they cross over before they die! It is time for them to cross over”.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode said “Death comes to us all, including Vice Presidents and Presidents. It is only a matter of time. One thing is clear though, I would rather stay in @OfficialPDPNig and go to heaven than join @OfficialAPCNg and go to hell.”
Fani-Kayode was one of the founding members of PDP and was a minister under the administration of two former Nigeria’s presidents before he dumped PDP to join APC. He jumped back to PDP in 2014.
At the time he dumped APC, he said he could not align with people who had sympathy for Boko Haram, “I cannot remain in a party where a handful of people that have sympathies for Boko Haram and that have a clear Islamic agenda are playing a leading role.

Nigerian Eye also quoted as saying, “This is made all the more untenable when some of those people are working hard silently and behind the scenes to impose a Muslim/Muslim ticket on the party for the Presidential elections next year.
His latest comment reaction to Osinbajo has been greeted with reactions from Nigerians, “So Nigerian politicians think they can ever go to heaven whenever they die, I smile in Hindu. You should rather not die as Naija politician if truly you want to make heaven.”
