ISIKO COMMUNITY HONOURS GOVERNOR IKPEAZU WITH AN AWARD OF “THE FRIEND OF ISIKO”

Dr. Ikpeazu has been honoured with an award as “The Friend of Isiko”, by the people of the Community in an event to mark the 2nd edition of Isiko Day held at Isiko Community in Obi-Mgboko Mbu Autonomous Community in Obingwa Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking while receiving the award, the Governor promised that he would build a skill acquisition centre in Isiko community within six months to enable youths from the community lacquire skills and enhance their employablity.

Governor noted that the centre would provide opportunity for the youths of the area to be gainfully employed and contribute meaningfully on a larger scale to the development of the community in particular and the State in general.

Dr. Ikpeazu who described the people of Isiko as reliable and worthy allies maintained that Isiko community alone has the highest number of journalists not only in Ngwa land but also in Abia State as a whole.

Also speaking, the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, commended Isiko Community for putting together such an event and pledged to be one of the sponsors of the next edition of the event with a donation of N2,000,000.

In an address, the organizer of the Isiko Day event and a Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Chief Enyinnaya Appolos, informed that the event was put together to celebrate the rich culture and tradition of the Isiko people.

He further explained that the event was initiated to consolidate on the unity among sons and daughters of Isiko community in order for them to remain a formidable force in the scheme of things in the state and beyond.

He thanked the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and other dignitaries for finding time to attend the event notwithstanding the timing and promised to always give his best for his people, Abia and Nigeria at large.

Highlights of the event was award presentations to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Dr. Chris Akomas, former Deputy Governor of the State and Abia Commissioner at the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission, Rowland Mkpuruoma who were all recognised for having outstanding relationship with Isiko in various capacities.
