The remains of Late Ezinne Evangelist Jessy Ogbeyalu Ndukwe, mother of the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Rt. Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe, was Saturday laid to rest at her late husband’s home town, Akanu Item in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

Speaking at the funeral, Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu stated that the funeral marks a celebration of the safe return of a matriarch and mother of faith in the Ndukwe family, back to her maker. Ikpeazu described the passage of a child of God as a gain to the heavenly kingdom and a loss to the devil.

He noted that whereas, for mortals, death maybe painful, it is harvest time for God and His children. According to him, “the loss of a mother in Africa creates a serious dent on the family as mothers are usually the pathway for the transmission of family virtues and cultures and the main things that mark us out are usually passed onto the next generation by our mothers. They represent entrepreneurship and hardwork”.

The Governor who described Mama Jessy as a hard worker who showered love to all who came her way, urged the bereaved family not to mourn as people without hope, but to always remember the virtues and indelible foot prints mama left behind in the sands of time.

He used the opportunity to direct that the road to Akanu Item be included in the State 2021 budget for rehabilitation.
