Dr Ikpeazu stated this when he received the Alumni association of University of Calabar led by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Zana Akpagu at the Government house, Umuahia.
He said that the visit reignites memory of life on Campus. He thanked the Vice Chancellor for expanding opportunities for Students through establishment of additional faculties. The Governor appreciates the relationship that has been opened between him and the Alumni association. He therefore urged the VC to match expectations with achievements and performance.
He pledged to support them, as a way of giving back to the place that contributed to his development as well as making sure Students benefit from better academic atmosphere. He therefore called on other Stakeholders to continue to partner and support the school.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Zana Agbagu said that they were in Govt House to express solidarity to a fellow Malabite and also to congratulate the Governor for his numerous achievements within a short period. The Vice Chancellor who described Dr Ikpeazu as the most Visible face of Unical, used the opportunity to extend an invite to the Governor on the occasion of the University’s 20th Convocation on the 12th day of March.
He eulogized the Governor on his vigorous campaign for Made in Aba, which according to him has gained recognition.
The professor who was accompanied by his Deputy, the School registrar and other top management staff, enumerated some of the challenges he is facing as the first Alumni Vice Chancellor that is saddled with expectations.
Governor Ikpeazu obtained his doctorate degree, Ph.D, in Biochemical Pharmacology from the University of Calabar, in 1994, at the age of 30.
