My elder brother, Mr. John Okiyi Kalu has said that the main problem we have in Abia is “lack of quality opposition” and we’ve seen it play out on several faces. It is really, awkward, archaic and denounced the sort and manner the opposition and detractors of this government fabricate lies, fallacies and innuendos in a bid to taint, downgrade and undermine the performing and populist government of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. Most annoying is the fact that they showcase and represent stark illiteracy of the way and manner to play opposition politics. Theirs is destructive not constructive – they’d rather go to other climes and understudy the technique of being a viable opposition.
Last week, an online media dished out lies from the pigment of their imagination that the Accountant General of Abia State was arrested by EFCC operatives. Pure lies from the pit of hell.
For a couple of days now, the social media has been awash following a publication by ‘The Punch Newspaper’ which resorted to hounding the amiable Governor’s wife, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu that she masterminded the demotion of a headmistress named Mrs. Maryleen Ezichi, of one primary school Amaetiti, Asaga Ohafia, for talking to her rudely during the occasion of inauguration of Mrs. Ikpeazu’s free feeding programme in her school, then transferred her to a school in Ukwa East local government Area of Abia State, claiming she requested for the payment of teachers emoluments rather, than embarking on a free school meal program.
It was expedient to clarify on this allegation immediately, but we waited for the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ikechi Mgbeoji to investigate and bring-forth a report on the issue because of the sensitive nature of the malicious and fallacious information that have no iota of truthfulness and correctness in the episode narrated by these enemies of this government acting the script of their infamous paymasters.
It is very true that the ‘Free Feeding Initiative has been a huge success so far, in fact Abia was a pioneer State in the federation. But at no time did any misunderstanding ensue or the Governor’s wife insulted at any inaugural fora. It is a calculated ploy to blemish this masses friendly government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, as such the truth has been vindicated and laid bare as that has been the fate of their lies and deceits.
It has become imperative to reinstate here that, while the Governor’s wife, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu remains the initiator of the ‘Free Feeding Programme’, it is a 100% private sector funded programme and therefore has no connection or relation with and or effect to the payment of teachers’ emoluments.
Mrs Ikpeazu has always been a mother to all Abians, her philanthropic posture and stance, using the Vicar hope foundation has endeared her to all Abians, it is indisputable that she is synergistic with Governor Ikpeazu to ensure and engender a better life for all Abians, then is it possible for her to demolish a house she is aiding to build? Not on planet earth.
These malicious lies are certainly sponsored by people who feel their political future career and aspirations are now in menopause with Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu’s outstanding performance as Abia State governor, hence they are now perfectionists of cheap propaganda and mudslinging. But Abians can always sieve any information and know the ones suitable for the trash bin, as such this one is one of them.
My sincere advice and question to these disgruntled fellows is; if you can’t beat Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s sterling performance, why not join him?
