Recently, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu reopened the long-abandoned Aba General Hospital, after been moribund for about eight years.
The General Hospital is strategic to the Aba community, in particular, and Abia people in general and would serve optimally, especially, as the Governor has provided a high-voltage generator for the hospital. Also, that the management of the hospital has benefited from the four containers of medical facilities the State received from the United States of America.
Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has sustained his efforts in delivering qualitative, affordable and available medical care to the good people and residents of Abia State. Hence, he has carried out several health interventions in the State, ranging from ‘Save One Million Lives’ initiative, to Free Home Health Service for the Aged, establishment of Tele-Health Initiative (Dial-a-Doc), sustenance of primary healthcare services among others.
In her determination to support her husband and add value to the administration of the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, the Wife of the Governor and founder of Vicar Hope, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has been carrying out many programmes in the State with the latest being the establishment of a sickle cell clinic at the Aba General hospital.
This sickle cell care centre was launched on Monday, 30th April, by the Wife of the Governor’s Vicar Hope Foundation in collaboration with NEU- DYX Global Investment, and Abia State Health Management Board(HBM). The goal is to pilot a cost-effective sickle cell clinic with a programme that will provide more consistency of care and also help redesign how individuals suffering from the disease are cared for in Aba and environ.
By establishing this clinic, the persons with sickle cell anemia in the State can now access healthcare at General Hospital Aba. It is pertinent to recall that on the launch cum kick off day of the centre, about 20 patients who attended the clinic received free treatment from card fee, laboratory test to drugs.
Governor Ikpeazu deserves accolades for reopening this general hospital, which has now opened up vista of giving more life by adding a sickle cell clinic to it. It will attract more prospects to the hospital thereby enhancing its services to Abia populace, especially the entire Aba residents.
More importantly too, the sickle cell clinic would certainly boost the revenue generation of the hospital and of course, the Internally Generated Revenue of the State.
Kudos to the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu for assisting in this regard. This amazon and woman with the Midas touch has not relented in supporting the vision of her husband and Governor of Abia State in all areas. By this gesture, she has contributed greatly in the Governor’s quest to improve on quality healthcare delivery of the administration, aimed at making Abia a medical tourism destination.
All are therefore enjoined to patronize the clinic as the hospital has all medical facilities needed both in a primary and secondary health care.
Congratulations to the Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu!
SUPPORT A GOVERNOR AT WORK.
