THE POWER OF A PRAYING WIFE: MRS. NKECHI IKPEAZU’S EXAMPLE

2

Ubani Newman
It is a common knowledge that every committed wife devotes time to pray for the success of her husband’s life endeavour. The committed wife equally prays for the children and the entire society. The reason behind this is very simple; they(women) are peace makers and most careful beings, whose contributions to their families are numerous, of which upholding the unity of their families is one of them.
They are also the most affected in any case of attack on the family. This is because, they are not only vulnerable but have the best affectionate feelings of mothers, who understands the pains and pangs of child bearing and need to protect them.

In line with this philosophy, the beautiful and result oriented wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, from the day her husband, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu assumed office, introduced and as well commenced prayer summits for both the Governor and the State at large. These prayers, over the years has been sustained by this great woman of inestimable value, Mrs. Ikpeazu.
It is important to note that the prayers of this woman and her team has been yielding great and wonderful results and has also sustained the Governor in office for almost four years now. Even in times of challenges, especially the several litigations that took place for almost three years. God of heaven who hears prayers of the saints, especially women has always shown mercy to the Governor and the State.

However, yesterday, Mrs Ikpeazu convened the annual Abia Prayer Summit programme. The prayers of the Wife of the Governor and her team was a special one indeed. Abia women from the 17 Local Government Areas of the State gathered in their numbers in Umuahia, to pray for the landslide victory of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in the fast approaching 2019 Governorship election in the State. The women, including the wife of the Senator representing Abia Central Constituency in the National Assembly, Chief(Mrs) Odochi Orji, wife of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Lady Vivian Ude Oko Chukwu, Wife of the Speaker of Abia State House of Assemby, Mrs Gloria Kanu, Wife of the Deputy Speaker, Mrs Ndidi Cosmos Ndukwe, wife of the former Head of State, Her Excellency Mrs Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi, Commissioners for Special Duties, Mrs Precious Achumba and Mrs Elizabeth Uchegbu, wives of pastors from various denominations in Abia State and all church women leaders took time to table their petitions before God.

The women who were led in various intercessory prayers by the Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Ikpeazu, called on God to grant the Governor landslide victory and release his angels to ensure a peaceful election in the State. They prayed that the elections would be devoid of violence and rancor. The women who prayed to God particularly, to disappoint any politician seeking to use Abia youths as political thugs during the election and those who does not have good plans for the people of the State; they also pleaded with God to bless the State. They equally asked God to grant his servant, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D, the grace to continue to lead the good people of Abia State, noting that the Governor has always expressed the fact that he is not leading the State by his own power but God’s grace has been upholding him.
The women took their words of exhortation from Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” they prayed in that regard, believing God and his promises to His people. Of course, it is certain that God Almighty, who has been hearing their Prayers all these while will hear them again.
To God be the glory!
Amen.
