48, SO FAR JAILED FOR VARIOUS SANITATION OFFENCES IN ABA – DGM ASEPA

Deputy General Manager, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency(ASEPA), Aba, Hon. Roland Nwakama has disclosed that over forty-eight people have been jailed by Sanitation Court for violating various sanitation laws in Aba and environs.

Hon. Nwakama who made the disclosure in an interview with the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media & Publicity, Ubani Newman Ubani, covered by the Abia Online crew, stated that ASEPA is out to enforce the various sanitation laws in order to get a cleaner Abia in line with the vision of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration.

He explained that the unbundling of ASEPA by the Governor is to bring the Agency closer to the people with a view to talking with, and engaging them on one-on-one basis. He added that with the unbundling, Aba zone has divided into 10 zones with eighteen refuse disposal compactors recently procured by Dr. Ikpeazu for effective service delivery.

Hon. Nwakama maintained that part of his work include educating the residents using the education unit of the Agency on the need to keep their environment clean. The unit according to him has visited schools, motor parks including the various Markets in Aba to create the awareness revealing that his Agency works in partnership with about 20 Associations to tackle the Environmental challenges of Aba.

He praised the compliance level of Aba people and called for more support from residents and people of Aba to achieve a cleaner Enyimba City.
