The stakeholders in Umuahia South Local Government Area have endorsed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as the sole candidate for governorship position in Abia State in 2019.

The stakeholders led by the Umuahia South Local Government Chairman Honorable Obioma Ogbulafor, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, Chief Tony Ukasonya, Barr. C. S. L Nwosu among others endorsed the Governor through a motion moved by a former member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Chief Udo Oluchi Ibeji and seconded by a former member representing Umuahia South in the State House of Assembly, Chief Ndukwe Max Adindu.
In their remarks, Chief Tony Ukasonya and Barr. C. S. L Nwosu as well as Eze G.C Onuoha said the Governor deserves second tenure, having performed excellently in the past two and half years, hence they came to show him solidarity.
They thanked Governor Ikpeazu for all he has been doing in the State and assured him of block vote come 2019.
The stakeholders appreciated the Governor for his numerous projects in the State, including his decision to extend the Aba road construction to Ubakala junction and requested him to fix many ring roads in the area as well as help in bringing NDDC back to fixing the Mbgarakuma- Umunwanwa-Achingali road.
Responding, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu saluted the unity existing among the stakeholders of the Council called on them to sustain it.
He said he would embark on inspection of roads in the Local Government Council in order to construct roads that would open more roads in the State capital, assuring that before the rains fully sets, at least one road would be constructed in the area.
