The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu ably represented by His Deputy, Rt. Hon. Sir. Ude Oko Chukwu declared open, a two-day summit on the theme ”THE WOMAN, HER FAMILY AND THE NATION championed by the wife of the Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu.
The Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, while declaring the seminar open at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, appreciated the wife of the governor for her kind gestures right from the inception of the present administration.
“Generally, women play a vital role in the family and society at large. Men may not get their bearing without the help of their noble wives”, he said. He urged the governor’s wife to continue with the virtues. Again, he advised people to utilize the day’s opportunity and empowerment as an avenue to becoming something in life.
The programme honoured women around the globe who have exemplified themselves through rare display of exceptional courage in leadership. The summit presented another bold step for Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, who educated Abia women to understand their values and responsibilities in their homes and the society at large.

Still speaking, the wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu calls for active participation of women in all vocation which will add values to their lives. She noted that it is encouraging to see Abia women play active roles in professional fields.
She also encouraged women to strike a balance in sustaining their families, while highlighting that the answer to every genuine home enhancement begins and ends with the women.
Dr(Mrs) Blessing Dame Nwagba, thanked the wife of the governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu for her generosity. She commended her as an achiever.
Furthermore, the wife of the Governor empowered 34 persons selected from the 17 local governments of Abia State. The youths, aged, women and men respectively were  given Hair Dryers, Sewing machines, Grinding machines, Popcorn machines, Cooking utensils and physical Cash.
It was an impactful summit.The wife of the governor urged them to handle and make adequate use of the equipment and the financial empowerment given to them to sustain their families.
Mrs Glory Irondi, who spoke on behalf of the empowerment beneficiaries, joyfully thanked the governor’s wife for her magnanimity and promised that they will utilize the opportunity given them to better the lives of their various families.
The event was graced by the deputy governor, wife of the governor ,wife of the first Military Head of State – Lady Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi, Dr(Mrs) Blessing Dame Nwagba- Member representing Aba North state constituency, Wife of the senator representing Abia South-Mrs Florence Abaribe, State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress- Comrade Uchenna Obigwe, Wives of the House Assembly Members, Women leaders from different geographical zones, Body of Permanent Secretaries and others too numerous to mention.
