MRS. NKECHI IKPEAZU: THE PROMISE KEEPER

Some years ago, I read a book titled “The Promise Keeper” though in French language, I have never forgotten some lines that explains the importance and obligation tied to keeping to promises we make and the undesirable desire to break promises. Excerpt in French: “En revanche, quelques personnes pourraient approuver la désirabilité de dédommager pour des promesses non tenues bien qu’ils n’aient pas pensé que le tenant de promesses était obligatoire ….” English: “In contrast, some people might endorse the desirability of making amends for broken promises even though they did not think that keeping promises was obligatory….” In the book, I learnt how more easier it is to break promises than to keep them. It informed that the desire to break promises is stronger than the will to keep them, stating that 90% of promises we make are not completely kept or not kept at all. However, unequivocally, I can state here that the Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has defied the contents of the book, thereby changing my perception on promise keeping. It should be recalled that the Wife of the Governor, during my Son’s Dedication/Thanksgiving, promised to build a house for a widow, Mrs. Patience Arungwa, whose husband died twenty years ago, leaving her with five children. , Well, I am happy to announce to you that two days after she made that promise she sent the SSA to the Governor on Rural Housing and Welfare, Chief Chiemela Moses, to the widow’s house for inspection and evaluation, two weeks after the construction has reached the lintel level, and I’ve been reliably informed that roofing will commence on Tuesday the 28th November, 2017.
