Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu believed that his administration’s intervention on road infrastructure in Aba has created more motorable routes for people to drive.
The Governor who was speaking on a live Radio interview monitored by ABIA ONLINE, noted that Roads which were hitherto impassable for years have been constructed by his administration and that ‘Abians and Aba will understand these undeniable facts.’
On the situation of Faulks road, Aba, Dr Ikpeazu has this to say:
“I am not happy with what is happening at Faulks road but Setraco will soon be on the road to correct some errors before the road is handed over to Abia State government. But am still happy that despite it is very bad, it is still better than what it was in 2014. It was never possible to drive through Brass or Samek to MCC for over 30 years.”
The State Chief Executive called for patience for those living around Ngwa road saying that things would look up at Ngwa road very soon.
He explained, “Ngwa road, Ohanku and Obohia fall within our belt of intervention from the World Bank. We have done our part and world bank will soon conclude their due diligence which will soon result to practical implementation. It needs proper channeling of storm water of which our plan will solve the problem.
“Our people within those areas should exercise patience. Our plan for Ngwa road will be the best we have seen anywhere. If I remembered those at Ngwa road axis including Ibadan, Emejiaka, Onyebuchi roads etc after over 60 years, then I have no reason not to fix Ngwa road and Ohanku.”
The Governor was of the view that Abia is bubbling with new businesses while existing ones are growing on daily basis maintaining that that was an eloquent testimony to the level of infrastructural and economic development his government has brought.
On the insecurity issue of Aba before now, the Governor said:
“Recall there was a time Aba in particular was deserted due to insecurity, we have bounced back. Abia government is opening more opportunities for people with smart ideas to do business. We are looking inwards to continue to satisfy the needs of our people.”
