OGUNJI INAUGURATES MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT TASKFORCE FOR UMUAHIA METROPOLIS
The Commissioner for Environment, Dr Solomon Ogunji has inaugurated the Ministry of Environment taskforce for Umuahia Metropolis.
The Commissioner, while inaugurating the taskforce in his office, charged them to carry out their work in line with the specified laws guiding their operations, to be thorough and not to compromise in their given task.
Dr Ogunji enjoined them to work with respect and to reject all forms of bribery and corruption as government has great confidence in them.
In his remarks, the Acting Permanent Secretary, Engr Tom Okoro, who noted that the inauguration of the taskforce was well over due, expressed the hoped that members of the taskforce will do their best to ensure that the work is done appropriately.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman, Mr Chisom Offor, thanked the Commissioner for finding them worthy of the assignment while promising to get things done the right way, he declared they would not disappoint them.
The taskforce has Mr Chisom Offor as Chairman, Morgan Alfred as Assistant chairman, Mrs Okoro Nkiru U, from the Department of Environmental Health and Pollution Control of the Ministry of Environment as Secretary and Mr Omenihu Sampson from the department of Forestry and Conservation as Assistant Secretary while others are from outside the Ministry.
