Amnesty International says it is being inundated with disturbing information from Oyigbo, Rivers state, Nigeria on how soldiers are allegedly invading homes despite the existing curfew.
The International human rights body said reports from Oyigbo residents indicates that dead bodies, allegedly shot by soldiers, are being seen on the streets.
In a Twit, the body called on the military authorities to exercise restraint and stop the killings going on in Rivers State.
It recalled that the leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky has been unlawfully detained since Dec. 2015 even as Nigerian military killed over 350 of his followers in Zaria between 12-14 Dec. 2015.
The body wrote: “In an attempt to cover up the mass slaughter of hundreds of men, women and children in Zaria, soldiers razed buildings and dumped victims’ bodies in mass graves. Many were were shot and burned alive. Soldiers threw grenades inside his compound in Zaria.”
