A Special Validatory session was Thursday held in honour of the immediate past Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Solomon Ogunji, at the Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia.
Speaking in a tribute, Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, who said he and the deceased became friends when he was only twelve years old, disclosed that he feels a deep sense of personal lost at the death of Dr. Ogunji.
Governor Ikpeazu described the deceased as a man that is beyond bribe insisting that he could never be bribed.
The Governor, who specifically discussed the temperament of the late Commissioner, explained that for those who thought he was highly temperamental that he was someone who gives everything and expects equal measure.
According to him, Solo doesn’t bear grudge because he confronts you with the issue at hand and forgets same thereafter.
Ikpeazu who said he feels a deep sense of personal lost at the death, explained that he would not say goodbye nor farewell to his friend affirming that “Solo will remain my friend even in death.”
Also speaking, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu said the deceased was a friend colleague and associate noting that he did his best for Abia State.
In his tribute on behalf of Abia State House of Assembly, the Speaker, Chief Chinedum Orji described him as a man of impeachable character who made a lot of sacrifices for the growth of the State.
Abia State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, Rt. Hon. Asiforo Okere and the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem noted that Dr. Ogunji was a man without a dual personality adding that he fought and won many battles for the Party.
Also in a tribute from the immediate family by an elder brother of the deceased, Dr. Emmanuel Ogunji said his late brother was noting that always a warrior, he lived to uplift those around him.
Eze Tony Nwagbara, Chairman Ukwa East Council of Traditional Rulers who spoke on behalf of the Ohambele community described him as voice of the voiceless in Ukwa East and an iroko tree.
ABIA ONLINE reports that highlights of the occasion was prayer for the repose of the deceased and comfort for those he left behind.
Late Dr. Solomon Nkem Ogunji will be laid to rest at his home town tomorrow, November 26th, 2020.
