ENYIMBA CITY CELEBRATES NEW YEAR IN LOW KEY
Residents of Aba, Enyimba City said good bye to 2020 and kicked off their year 2021 in their normal hustling and bustling nature despite the day being declared a public holiday.
ABIA ONLINE correspondent who visited some parts of the city such as Jubilee, Hospital, St Michael’s and Azikwe and Asa roads respectively, it observed a low key kind of celebration while other areas like Asa by Park, Asa by Cameron, and Ehi road market respectively, saw the usual hustling at full blast.
Some of the residents who spoke to ABIA ONLINE including Mr. Magnus George, Chukwuma Uzondu, Ikechukwu Ejimmadu Ms Nnedinma Nwaigwe, Samuel Agbo, expressed joy and gratitude to God Almighty for bringing them into the new year, despite challenges of Covid-19 pandemic and the events of EndSARS protest that reshaped year 2020.
According to them, the Covid-19 pandemic and the EndSARS protest had an adverse effect on the economic state of things in the City and the world at large.
They however thanked the State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, for the projects his administration has executed for the city as well as pleaded with him to help them access grants for their businesses to help cushion the effect of the pandemic on their businesses.
They also asked that the payment of workers salaries become more consistent so that money could easily circulate into the state to for more economic upturn.
