ORBORHIA ASA REFINERY SET TO TAKEOFF (See photos)
The proposed Refinery company that would be sited at Orborhia Asa in Ukwa-West Local Government Area of Abia State, is billed to take-off soon, Elder Godwin Nna says.
Elder Nna, a former Commissioner in Abia State and front line politician, made the disclosure when he led a delegation of the investor to Orborhia Asa, the proposed host Community for the project.
According to him, they were in the community to inform them that the Refinery Project is still intact and that nothing has happened to it noting that the little delay was due to the tussle in changing the Certificate of Occupancy for the proposed land.
He informed that the investor, Zoros Energy Nig Ltd has all it takes to realize the project at record and called for the corporation of everyone in the community to make sure it succeeds.
Elder Nna, who acts as the link between the investor, Government and the community, told the gathering that an understanding has been reached between the investor, Government and the community and that what is required is the understanding of the entire interest group representatives from the community.
He added that the visit to the community was to disabuse the minds of those who think that the community were left behind in the negotiation process, insisting that: “We are not going to cut corners or boycott any group, we want to be as transparent as possible to ensure that everyone benefits from the project. We want to start as soon as possible, at least before the end of this month, there should be something different.”
He maintained that the siting of the Refinery, which will be developed and sponsored by their partners abroad, will bring about other numerous developments to the community.
Speaking on behalf of the investor, the Chief Executive Officer of Zoros Energy Nigeria Limited, who is in charge of the company’s investment portfolio in Africa, Eze Ikenna Nwaigwe, assured that the Investor would complete the Refinery project in a record time revealing that when completed, the company would create employment for numerous youths in the community in particular and the State at large as 70/80% of the total workforce will be local content.
Eze Nwigwe further said that the project will include creation of more roads for the community, building of dam that will ensure for a 24 hour electricity, modern schools, hospital among others benefits and called for corporation for everybody including the Youths for the realization of the project.
He lauded Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for the approval of their letter, the principal partners for their Corporation and applauded the people for listening ear and corporation.
According to Eze Nwigwe, the Refinery project is solely sponsored by private partnership, noting that there is no politicking involved in it and sued for more peace from the community as there will be no room for disunity and segregation.
In their separate responses, HOD, Works, Ukwa West LGA, Engr Enyinnaya Nwankwo, Elder Ihejirika Nwankwo and the Youth Leader, Comrade Wisdom Ekeke, thanked the investor for choosing their Community for the Refinery project and suggested the writing of a comprehensive MOU that will accommodate everyone involved in the community.
In a vote of thanks, the CDC chairman Comrade Promise Nwazue thanked their guest for their visit and appealled for immediate action on the project to commence while he wished them journey mercies on their way back.
