ABIA TRANSPORT COMMISSIONER MOVES TO ERADICATE TRANSPORT CHALLENGES; BUILDS MORE MODERN MOTOR PARKS IN THE STATE.

The Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Mrs Nnenna Obewu Onwuka has visited some spots originally carved out as motor parks at Ohokobe – Ahiaeke Ibeku Community, with a view to constructing a Modern Motor park at the area, to accommodate Transporters plying Umudike – Ikot Ekpene and Cross River routes.
Barr. Obewu-Onwuka who was accompanied on the visit by the Head of Department (HOD) of Transport, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the ministry and Mr. Nnamdi Balogu (aka Choppy) Chairman task force “Operation enter Government approved Parks”, said her next line of action would be to meet with the Community stakeholders as to take necessary actions.
She reiterated Government’s resolve to get rid of roadside motor parks and sanitize the Transport sector of the State.
In a related development, Commissioner Obewu Onwuka has inspected the former Ohuhu park hitherto turned to Repairers’ line at Oba street by new road, Umuahia for possible annexation to the old Okigwe Motor park to assume the formation of a Mega Motor park. This, if accomplished will accommodate more transporters and routes to give the Umuahia metropolitan city the desired esthetic status.
