ABIA INDIGENES IN DIASPORA HONOURS GOVERNOR IKPEAZU

Abia State indigenes living in United Kingdom & Eire has honoured the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu with an ‘Award of Excellence’.
The honour was given to the Governor during the 2018 end of the year party and celebration of Abia indigenes in far away UK – an annually held event.

Receiving the award of excellence on behalf of the Governor, Mr. Ubani Newman Ubani(UNU), who was a special guest at the event, threw some light on the Governor’s developmental giant strides, especially in the areas of road infrastructure, where over 67 road has been completed and more than 94 ongoing. He equally informed Abians over there how the Governor’s administration has promoted Micro, Small & Medium scale Enterprises(MSME), Trade & Commerce, particularly, the aggressive Made-in-Aba revolutions.

He encouraged them to come home and invest as Abia State now ranks high in safety in Nigeria, with a growing economy.
Mr. Ubani, who thanked them for giving Governor Okezie Ikpeazu a deserved honour with the ‘Award of Excellence, also appreciated their plans of coming to carry out a giant project in the State soon.
Handing over the award of the Governor, the Chairman, Abia State Indigenes in Diaspora UK & Eire, Mr. Uche Kay said the award was to recognize the Governor’s sterling performances in Abia State.
He specially appreciated the Governor for the continuity of the diaspora project which was initiated by Chief T. A Orji’s administration. He disclosed that the foundation laying ceremony of the diaspora project is expected to take place in the first week of February 2019.
According to him, the diaspora project would involve Diaspora village, which is a mini village with 2,000 housing units, community hospital, shopping malls, 24/7 power supply, security, transportation system, recreation centre, nursery, Primary & Secondary school, sports academy amongst other facilities.
The event which had other awardees to include Senator T. A. Orji, Martha Okpi – Chief of protocol Nigeria High Commission, Nikky Ibrahim, Sam Okwulehie and Hon. Kingsley Megwara, attracted many personalities like Mr. Enyinna Eric Nwadinobi – Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media (Head of production BEN television London), Chief Chris Onuora – President Anambra State Association, Prof Joe Ukemenem – President Enugu State Association, Barr. Chuks Ogbonna – President Imo State Union, Chima Olugh – President Ebonyi State Union, Sir Chibuzor Ubochi – Chairman NIDO South UK, Barr. Alex C – Leader Council of Igbo Communities UK, Chief Ajudua – Rep Ohaneze Ndigbo UK, Euphemia Chukwu – Rep Central association of Nigerian in UK, Chief Bimbo Folawiyo – Director Nigeria Diaspora Direct Investment, Chief Ayo Akinfe – President Ondo State Union, Priscilia Nwikpo – Rep River State Association, Nwankpa – Chairman Nigerians in Diaspora (Nido) Netherlands, Mayor Kate Anolu, Councilor Caroline Kalu amongst others.
