ABIA LOCKDOWN: TASKFORCE IMPOUNDS VEHICLES FOR DISOBEDIENCE (See Photos)

Several vehicles were today impounded by the Abia State Joint Taskforce on COVID-19 monitoring compliance to the lockdown order declared by the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

The team, lead by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Homeland Security, Chief Sopuruchi Bekee, monitored compliance from Aba road by Azikiwe road junction through Isi-Gate to Uzuakoli road through Umuagu- Nkwoegwu road through Port Hacourt-Enugu expressway back to Mission Hill to Ikot-Ekpene junction to Ikwuano LGA.

Accompanied by the Head of Service, Sir Onyii Nwama, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, M. A Jatau, DCO Operations, Abia State Police Command, Mr. Alfa Jibrin, Representatives of the Army, NDLEA, Civil Defense, among others,
Chief Bekee insisted that impounded vehicles, which have been packed at the State Police Command, would remain there until the end of the lockdown period as directed by the committee.

He used the opportunity to enjoin Abians to strictly adhere to the stay at home directive of the State Government as a precautionary measure against the spread of the Corona virus.

ABIA ONLINE observed that many of those on whose vehicles were impounded could not clear themselves on what brought them to the road.
