Abia State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning, Barrister Suleiman Ukandu, has identified the Abia Seaport project as one of the legacy projects that the state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu was desirous of commissioning.
Barrister Ukandu made this revelation while interacting with the Traditional Ruler of Obeaku Autonomous Community, Eze Ikeagwuchi Ekeke, members of his cabinet and representatives of the Investor in the Eze’s Palace during a tour of the project site, added that the project was key to the economic prosperity of Abia State.
He revealed that, on completion, the project was capable of opening up the state to the international community with the attendant developmental benefits and economic boom
Addressing Obeaku Stakeholders in an interactive session, the Honourable Commissioner implored them to cooperate with the investor while assuring them of the resolve of the state government to ensure the completion of the project in a record time. He further disclosed that the team was in the community to satisfy the yearnings and aspirations of the donor community and state government to complete the seaport project.
Reacting, Eze Ikeagwuchi Ekeke lauded the state Governor and the Commissioner for being proactive and wished that the project which had suffered years of delay would be realized during the tenure of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
Eze Ekeke expressed the readiness of his community to fully cooperate with the state Government and the Investor stating that it was in the best interest of his people to witness the completion of the project.
While calling for due process and fairness from the Investor, Eze Ekeke revealed that his community has donated two thousand hectares of land for the seaport project and willing to donate more land as a demonstration of their willingness to partner Government and the Investor.
Contributing, a former Commissioner in the state and frontline politician, Elder Godwin Nna, noted that the Governor carried out consultations before engaging the new Investor whom he assured will not fail the community and state government adding that the Investor has the capacity to complete the project in a record time.
Speaking on behalf of the investor, Eze Ikenna Nwaigwe, disclosed that the Investor has fifty three conglomerates world-wide and assured that the Investor would complete the seaport project in a record time. Eze Nwaigwe, who also revealed that when completed, the company would create employment for one million youths, lauded Governor Ikpeazu for attracting Zoros Energy Limited adding that the Investor would partner with the State Government.
