Abia State Government has approved and executed all requirements for the commencement of the Central Bank of Nigeria Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme AADS in the state.
The commissioner for Agriculture, Rt Hon Uzo Azubuike disclosed this during a town hall meeting of the Project Management Team with Executives of poultry, oil palm and ginger farmers in Umuahia, said Abia State is leading other States in the preparation for the scheme.

Chief Uzo Azubuike also revealed that the state executive council have submitted their resolution and other requirements to the Central Bank of Nigeria in support of the participation of the state in the scheme, pointing out that the CBN has also expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation by the state especially the establishment of the poultry cluster. The Agriculture Commissioner stated that the state indicated interest in poultry, oil palm and ginger value chain in the scheme and remained interested farmers that the are expected to organize themselves in cooperatives and clusters to enable them benefit from the scheme.
In their contributions, the state chairman of poultry Association of Nigeria, Dr Onwutalu Nnaka and the chairman of Oil Palm Grower Association of Nigeria, Abia State chapter, Chief Onyiye Alozie thanked the state government and the Central Bank of Nigeria for the various agricultural initiatives and moved a motion for the adopting of the recommendations reached for the commencement of the scheme in the state.
Highpoint of the Town Hall meeting was the presentation of the financial estimates and proposal for the production of Broilers, Layers,Oil Palm and ginger. The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Uzoamaka Uche-lkonne,Directors from the ministry and the President Abia Farmers Cooperatives Union
