One of the dreams and aspirations of the Governor Ikpeazu’s led administration is to equip and as such make appreciable improvement in the educational sector to ensure optimal performance of our teachers, students and wards, creating an enabling environment with state-of-the-art facilities, a situation that will see our students compete favourably with their counterparts globally.
It could be recalled that in May 2016, Precious Kids Education Empowerment ably led by the president Mrs. Vivian Peters in collaboration with the Abia State government which was a rub off of the numerous visits of Mrs. Vivian Iro-Chima, SSA to the Abia State Government on diaspora matters to some countries of the world including Australia, the home base of the NGO, organized an extensive lectures and enlightenment programme for Abia State primary school teachers to enable them adopt the newest and world standard methods of imparting knowledge to the Abia children.
Presently, this NGO in conjunction with the Abia State Government have been providing teaching aids to primary schools across the State. The first point of call today was the School road primary School, Umuahia North LGA, where instructional materials such as story books, novels, teaching aids, computers, power generation sets, physical education gadgets such as swing set, gym set, toys for the kindergarten classes, posters for classrooms, cricket, frisbees, skipping ropes etc.
The school management was on hand and was so grateful to the State government and the NGO. The anchor person, Miss Lyan Love stated that the materials will greatly enhance learning. She took time to educate the pupils on the use of the materials.
At the central school, Ubakala, in Umuahia South LGA, the headmistress, Mrs. Njoku Angela and the education secretary Ihechiluru Comfort Nwosu witnessed the installation and handing over to the school authority, the materials donated to the school. They were very elated and opined that it will enhance learning in the school and take education to a higher level.
With the trend of positive developments witnessed in the education sector, made possible by Governor Ikpeazu’s unwavering commitments to place Abia as number one in education, coupled with the determination and arrangements in top gear to clear teachers outstanding salaries, it is unarguable that the sector is headed to the halcyon shores.
