ABIA STREET LIGHTING PROJECT: IKPEAZU DONATES HILUX VAN TO ASSLMIG DG

In a bid to improve the economic activities in the State and bring the crime rate to the barest minimum, Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has handed over a brand new Toyota Hilux van to the Director General, Abia State Street Light Maintenance and Installation Agency, Sir Tony Ezebuiro.

Speaking while handing over the keys at Government House, Umuahia, Ikpeazu said his administration was committed to returning all street lights across the State to full functionality so as to promote economic activities in the State.

The Governor, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Dr. ACB Agbazuere, disclosed his resolve to mount solar powered street lights in all roads recently constructed and reconstructed by the present administration.

He extolled Mr Ezebuiro for the way he is piloting the affairs of the agency as well as the good work his agency is doing in the state and urged him to sustain the tempo.

Receiving the keys, the Director General, Abia State Street Light Installation and Maintenance Agency, Mr Tony Ezebuiro who expressed gratitude to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for being conscious of the yearnings of Abians, observed that the vehicle given them would go a long way in enabling them carry out effective maintenance and supervision of street lights across the State as well as meet up with the dynamics of modern technology.

He hinted that his Agency not only see to the installation of street lights in the State but also liaises with other Federal and Foreign Agencies that intend to install street and traffic lights by ensuring that they are adequately maintained.

Sir Ezebuiro, while regretting that the facilities lack maintenance informed that the Agency was working hard to improve on its job and meet up with the dynamics in the society.

Some top government officials were present during the handover.
