Abia state deputy governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has assured that the state government would continue to partner with the state chapter of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in building capacity that would ensure positive projection and informing the people adequately about government activities.
Speaking while receiving executive and members of the state chapter of the Institute in his office on a courtesy visit, Sir Oko Chukwu said that people’s impression about government matter a lot and urged the Institute to used their positions as information managers to highlight present state government’s giant strides recorded in various sectors of the economy.
He maintained that the lot to keep the people adequately and positively informed rest so much on them and called for adequate synergy on information management and dissemination about key government achievements projects like the Enyimba Economic City reputed to be the largest investment East of the Niger and that would create about 700,000 jobs on completion.
The deputy governor said that the Enyimba city was no longer a mere dream but a reality as Federal government and many private individuals have keyed into the project and called for sustained prayers and support from Abians towards the realisation of the project.
While calling on the citizens to ensure regular payment of taxes as part of their responsibility to government, he assured that the state government would meet its obligations to the people in this partnership.
Sir Oko Chukwu promised government sustain assistance to the association to enable them excel and achieve their objectives.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chapter chairman, Mr Anyaso O. Anyaso said that they came to reciprocate and sustained the bond of friendship and love existing between the body and the government and disclosed their preparedness to project the people’s development oriented policies and projects of the government.
Mr Anyaso disclosed that the association intend ensuring robust and active participation in agenda setting by organising periodic round tables and media activities.
He commended government achievements in areas of promoting the Made in Aba products and the Enyimba Economic City that would boost the state’s rising profile in the comity of states in the country.
The NIPR state president appealed to the government for assistance in areas of provision of 6000kva power generator set, a bus to aid their mobility and a parcel of land to build their state Secretariat to be called “Abia Image House”
