ABOVE 50,000 ABIA FARMERS TO BENEFIT FROM FG’S AGRICULTURAL INTERVENTION – NWAOGU
The Abia State Focal Person Mr. Chinenye Nwaogu said he targets the enumeration of above 50,000 Abia farmers who will benefit in the distribution of Federal Government Agricultural farm seedlings as priority crops and loans that will help to increase locally grown food supply.
Mr. Nwaogu was addressing Abia Npower Beneficiaries engaged the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), to enumerate Abians who operate small holder farms.
He mandated Abia Npower (mostly Nagro) beneficiaries to register as Enumerators, to be able to participate in the farmers survey, adding that, “this is not just an opportunity to make good money for yourselves but it can also be an employment opportunity for you if you deliver a successful job.”
According to him, “We have numerous Abia smallholder farmers who need Federal Government assistance and its your job to ensure they are captured during the survey.”
The Abia Focal Person further charged the selected Npower beneficiaries, who are now undergoing training in all over the 17LGAs in Abia State as Enumerators, to live up to their expectations maintaining that Abia State Social Investment Office will ensure Abians duely participate and benefit from every life empowerment projects of the Federal Government.
Recall that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), had engaged Abia Npower Beneficiaries to enumerate Abians who operate small holder farms with the aim to increase locally grown food supply, export food surplus and create employment opportunities in the Agricultural sector
ABIA ONLINE understands that the exercise will ensure Enumerators survey small holder farms, map the size of the farms, identify priority crops and livestock and collect farmers details aimed at making available food surplus.
