An address presented to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu on the occasion of the

“ADOPTION OF THE GOVERNOR FOR RE-ELECTION”

The Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, our Senator Chief Enyinnaya Abaribe, member House of Representative, Chief Solo Adelu, members of the Governor’s entourage, our State Member of the House of Assemble, Hon. Chief Nkoro, the Chairman of our LGA, Our Royal Fathers and Royal Majesties, Members of the Press and my fellow good people of Amano-Mbaugwu, you are all welcomed.
We the people of Amano-Mbaugwu gladly welcome you to this event in honor of Dr. Okzie Ikpeazu, the Governor of our own God’s state, Abia State of Nigeria. Amano-Mbaugwu Peoples’ Assembly was formed out of our love for community, state and to fully participate in the political process of utilizing our votes for the benefits and privileges enshrined in our voting strength.
Amano-Mbaugwu is comprised of seven villages which are; Agburuike Isiugwu, Avorh, Akanu Amano, Akanu Umuorie, Umuorie, Umuopara, and Umuomei, with a voting strength of about ten thousand registered voters. While we are not monolithic in our voting character, we consider it important that we enjoy the benefits of democracy that come with our voting strength as a people.
The people of Amano-Mbaugwu have extensive land mass extending to our boundary with Akwa Ibom State, and we believe that we are well suited for any government development in agriculture and education. We want our leaders to know that we are hard pressed to feel that we only see development when we travel out of our community, especially when we head toward our neighboring state.
We therefore want to bring to the attention of our leadership that the people of Amano-Mbaugwu with our voting strength are by error or omission excluded from the benefits of government including political appointments. We have no Commissioners, PAs, SAs, no LGA Chairman or deputies, nor are we involved in the leadership of any state government agencies. We also take no pride in informing our leadership that ours roads, namely Agburuike-Itungwa Road, Umuorie –Avorh Road, and worst Akanu Amano-Akanu Umuorie Road have not received due attention of the respective authorities over the years. The only Medical Centre in this community is sponsored by private efforts with tremendous assistance from the Anglican Diocese of Aba. The plight of transporting a patient in emergency situation from here to the city is horrible and we believe that ambulance assistance van will save lives.
CONSQUENTLY, our people are pained by this scenario that implies that we are marginalized in the scheme of things by subsequent governments despite our past voting patterns. This we are poised to change by voting for those who identify with our concerns and aspirations. We want to state that we shall use our vote wisely in favor candidates who share our values and concerns by actions and real commitment and not by election time promises only. We shall consider voting the candidates who will commit to addressing our concerns when we use our votes to get them elected into office.
All these and more said, we take the bold and proud step to state that our Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has performed admirably in enhancing the progress of our State and positioned Abia State and it’s people on the trail for a bright future.
He has changed the trajectory of leadership by showing knowledge, capacity, experience and the desire to leave a good legacy. We also believe that he has the capacity to address the concerns of the people of Amano-Mbaugwu Community therefore; we the People of Amano-Mbaugwu throw our total support to the re-election of Dr. Ikpeazu for a second term as the Governor of Abia State.
We also believe that the Governor has a bright future in the Nigerian Politics thereafter, and we make confident prediction that he will participate in the Presidential debate in 2023 for the office of President of Nigeria. We shall stand for and with him through.
We have summarized below the basic needs of our community to the Candidates and ask that they identify and commit to addressing such issues as they fall within the responsibility of the offices for which they seek our votes.
1. Akanu Amano through Akanu Umuoire Road
2. Agburuike Isiugwu through Itungwa
3. Avorh through Umuorie Road
4. Participation in the leadership of our LGA to secure our part of the equity in leadership
5. Appointment of our sons/daughters to the position of Commissioners
6. Training of 70 of our sons/daughter annually at the technical Facility in Umuobikwa
7. Relocation and/or establishment of an education center to this community
8. Participation in serving our State Government through all other appointments.
9. Facilitate the development and progress of two medical centers.

We believe that these are basic entitlements which are extended to other communities, and we ask that same should also be extended to the people of Amano-Mbaugwu.
