ATIKU HOLDS TOWN-HALL MEETING WITH ABA BUSINESS COMMUNITY; VOWS TO TURN AROUND THE ECONOMY OF ABIA FOR GOOD

The PDP Presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2019 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has held a town hall meeting with the Aba business community and pro groups in Abia State.

Speaking at Aba Sports Club, the presidential hopeful vowed to turn the fortunes of the South East Zone for good if elected the next president of Nigeria. The PDP presidential candidate noted that Aba can be turned into SME sub-region, describing SME’s and entrepreneurship as the live wire of any economy. He said he would remove all hitches limiting business potentials in the Zone.

Alhaji Abubakar, who equally promised to make sea ports functional in the country, otherwise including the proposed dry port in Ntigha, Abia State described the South East as the economic power of Nigeria.

Also speaking, the Vice presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi said that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has all it takes to manage the economy of Nigeria, saying that Alhaji Abubakar would remove all bottlenecks and encumbrances to the economic development of Abia State, including making the Geometric Power in Aba functional.
Welcoming the PDP presidential candidate and his team, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu said that he was confident that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, if elected President would revive various moribund industries in Aba and other south East Zone zones, having learnt the problems of South East business community.
He said Abia is a special economic zone that is capable of driving the economy of Nigeria, adding that the importance of Aba business people to the growth of Nigeria economy cannot be over-emphasised
Presenting their addresses, the President, Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Chief Andy Obasi and
the first Vice President of NACCIMA, Ide John Udeagbala, highlighted the problems facing the business community in Aba to include, lack of good Federal roads linking Aba to other States, Inadequate power supply among others.
They said that Aba suffered severe setback because of insecurity and other challenges but is now receiving a facelift by the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led administration. They said the administration has done well especially, in the area of SME and prayed for its sustenance.
