Buhari rules out further meeting with nPDP

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared never to discuss with aggrieved members of the defunct new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) that joined forces to form the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). 
A top government functionary that pleaded for anonymity confirmed to journalists last night that the president, while calling the bluff of the nPDP, fell short of telling them to go to hell.
According to the source, the president has already put the governors elected on the platform of the APC in the know about his stance when he met with them recently
The source further added that Buhari told the governors as well as  national leaders of the party pointedly to resolve the issues.
He said the issue was a party matter.
“It is a party matter. I am not ready to sit down with any faction. If they have problems, they should go to the party. I will not interfere.
“Governors as party leaders in the states should deal with all issues. Where there is need, the party leadership can come in. I will not get involved,” the source quoted Buhari to have said to the state governors.
Buhari was said to have commended the earlier meeting the group held with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and had given his nod for the discussion to continue.
The source also added that opinions were divided on the issue among the governors that attended.
“Some hardline governors asked the president to ignore the nPDP while the majority felt the party and the VP should continue to talk with them,” the source said.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu,  was yet to respond to enquiry seeking confirmation as at the time of filing this report.
The aggrieved members of the nPDP led by Alhaji Kawu Baraje had petitioned the national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun and copied President Buhari among other chieftains of the party complaining about marginalisation.
The petition dated April 27 and signed by Baraje and then secretary, Olagunsoye Oyinlola gave the party seven-day ultimatum, which had lapsed since May.
Members of the group had vowed to shock Buhari if the issued they raised were not satisfactorily redress.
But reacting, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-rufai, had said the threat by the nPDP to dump the ruling party if their grievances were not addressed would not diminish Buhari’s electoral value.
The original members of the nPDP include the five governors that left the PDP in 2005, President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara.
