COURT REMANDS LABOURER FOR ALLEGEDLY DEFILING MINOR
A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, ordered that a 26-year-old labourer, Haruna Yusuf, be remanded at a Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl.
The prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that Yusuf committed the offence at his residence on Nov. 30.
According to the prosecutor, the girl’s mother had sent her on an errand when the defendant lured her to his room.
He said the girl’s mother was in search of her daughter when she heard her screaming in an uncompleted building and saw Yusuf on top of her.
Leo stated that the offence contravened the provisions of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
Delivering Judgement, magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, who did not take Yusuf’s, ordered the prosecution to send the case file to the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
He adjourned the case to Jan. 8, 2021, for hearing, NAN reports.
