In a bid to cushion the negative effects of lockdown policy against the spread of Coronavirus, a Commissioner in Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), Chief Uzo Ihuka has distributed 100 bags of rice, 200 cartons of Indomie noodles and cash to his people of Isalangwa North and Isalangwa South Local Government Areas.
Speaking while distributing the items to T. C Chairmen and political ward leaders, Chief Uzo Ihuka stated that the gesture was part of his step towards ameliorating the difficulties being faced by the people in this period of lockdown. He noted that his people are predominantly farmers and traders who depend on their daily chores for survival and may find it difficult with the lockdown.

used the opportunity to advise Abia people and residents to adhere strictly to the government directives to stem the spread of the virus in the State. He emphasized the need for social distancing, regular hand-washing and hand sanitizing among other measures.
He made case for the federal government to be more proactive in protecting Nigerians against the Covid 19 Pandemic especially those in the rural areas. He urged the Federal government to distribute the about thirty thousand testing kits in its possession across the 36 states of the Federation.
The ASOPADEC Commissioner advised everyone to go back to God whom the entire world is resorting to at this trying moment and called on his people to maintain personal hygiene. According to him, Covid 19 Pandemic is real and should be resisted with all forms of seriousness.
Chief Ihuka commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his proactive measures in handling the case, including establishment of Committee in charge of ensuring that Abia people adhere to the preventive measures and guidelines provided by the National Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) against the scourge.
