Foreign trips embarked by Governor after his inauguration, certainly was not for jamboree nor for flair of globe-trotting,rather it was well calculated and intended trips meant to partner and synergize with foreign counterparts,Abians in diaspora and non-governmental organizations (NGOs ), in a bid to benefit and improve the well-being of Abians.
The Health sector unarguably is very crucial that it cannot be relegated to the background by any serious and responsive government such as ours .Hence the concerted effort at all fronts by the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led administration to reform,entrench workable policies and programs that will benefit the generality of Abians.
The Governor, Dr.Okezie Ikpeazu through his working visit to Atlanta U.S.A on the invitation of The Abia State National Association of North America under the leadership of Dr.Chris Ike, a patriotic Abian, who concluded the arrangements for our amiable Governor,Dr.Okezie Ikpeazu to meet with a Non Governmental Organization (NGO),Medshare,whose core mandate is to donate medical facilities to developing parts of the globe.
The Medshare officials revealed that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu was the first Nigerian Governor to visit the organization ; What a cheering news, perceived from the light of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu ‘s unparalleled love and care for Abians.
The meeting prompted the Governor to immediately set up a three(3) man panel which comprised ,Dr Chris Ike (a pharmacist ),Mrs Jane Ekwuonye,(a Nurse) and the Governor’s personal physician Dr.Mike Enyinnah (a general surgeon).
The assignment of the team was to ensure and facilitate that containers of medical equipments will start arriving the shores of Abia state in no distant time.
It is heartwarming and remarkable that the effort of the government and the team gave birth to positive and impressive results, as the first 40ft container of medical equipments was delivered to the Abia State Government on the 24th October 2019. Some of the equipment includes, High Resolution Ultrasound, Endoscopic Equipment, Surgical Electrocontem Machine, Electronic Hospital Beds, Personal Energy Transportation Vehicles, High-tech Electronic Stretchers and hundreds of other equipments.
It’s important to state here that the medical equipments were of high qualities and cost beneficial to the state considering the lean resources of Abia State.
These equipments will astronomically improve the quality of health care delivery and functionality of the hospitals and health centers across the length and breath of our dear ‘God’s Own State.
It is not yet uhuru as more delivery is awaited, more so, as there is anticipation of revenue improvement accruing to the State’s coffers.
Abia State government has scored another high point in the health sector, which is very cardinal as a ‘Healthy’ nation is certainly a wealthy nation.
It now behoves on the recipients of this ultra-modern equipments to use it for the purpose it is meant for, careful and diligently as government monitoring team will keep a close eye, to ensuring that these equipments are not mal-handled or vandalized.
Abia State certainly is soaring high in all ramifications with our able servant leader, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on the saddle.
