ENYINNAYA NWAFOR: A PHILANTHROPIST OF EXTRAORDINARY STATUS

9

It was Mother Teresa who said of charity work that: “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” That sounds like a bell ringing inside the mind of Sir. Enyinnaya Nwafor(Engr.) when he began his charity work many years ago and later through his foundation – Each One Aid One Foundation.

Today, the Foundation is going places and touching lives of every Dick, Tom and Harry with love, care and affection. One unique thing about the philanthropy of this Foundation is that it identities the core needs of the people and tries to meet those needs.

For instance, the Foundation has made it a duty to deliver quality healthcare to the people of the State through its Medical Outreaches and in doing so combine health with stomach infrastructure as well as clothing for them. In so many of their Medical Outreaches, while the Foundation checks and provides healthcare for those who are sick but could not access medicare due to their financial state, it equally ensures that they are given food and clothing.

The Foundation does not segregate when it comes to who receives aids from its outreaches. In other words, there’s no particular order in which it carries out its works of charity. One known criteria is identifying the needy and finding a way of lifting the burden off the shoulders of such a one.

An example will suffice here, the story has it that Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor read of an SOS appeal on a girl that needed surgery to correct a damage in her spinal cord after a road accident. Not knowing who the girl is nor the parental linage, he decided to make more enquires about the authenticity of the report and when convinced, he swong into action by taking it upon himself to foot the medical bills of the poor little girl using his Each One Aid One Foundation.

He did not stop at that. When the surgery went successfully, the excited philanthropist of extraordinary status announced the adoption of the girl. What that means is that the Foundation took over everything that concerns the girl’s welfare, her schooling, feeding and luxury until when she becomes an adult. It was a great relief for the biological parents of the adopted as they might not be able to meet up with the girl’s medical check-up and other expenses that she would need to stay healthier after being knocked down by a moving vehicle.

That is exactly the kind of person Enyinnaya Nwafor is. He sleeps not when the next person does not have anywhere to lay down his head neither does he eat until he sees that the one who needs it most eats.

In fact, one stack and surprising thing about his kind of goodwill is he does it as a hobby without any string of sentiments or ambition attached. He showed that by distancing himself from the name of the Foundation. What that means is that while many so-called philanthropist today put their names first before adding Foundation to show that, they are actually the sponsors of the gesture, there is no iota of coloration between Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor and the name of his Foundation. For instance, one would have expected him to have something like: ‘Enyinnaya Nwafor Foundation,’ but in stack contrast, what he put forward is Each One Aid One Foundation, with the intent that “when you are helped, you help the next person next to you.”

Engineer Sir. Enyinnaya Chima Nwafor sleeps, wakes, eats and drinks philanthropy. He doesn’t get tired of meeting needs and philanthropy runs in his DNA. We cannot fault that anyway knowing full well that he is obedient to the ancient words of the holy Bible, the book of Psalms chapter 41:1-2, that: “Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble; the Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou will not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.”

There is nothing more to say, order than to add that the Lord has spoken and will not take His words back on Each One Aid One Foundation and the Founder of the Foundation, Sir Enyinnaya Chima Nwafor(ENGR.).
