The Executive Chairman, Ukwa East Local Government Area , Chief Lewis Obianyi has commended the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for initiating the Free Home Health Care Services for the Elderly in the State. The Chairman was speaking during the inauguration of the Free Home Health Care Services for the Elderly in Ukwa East Local Government Area of the State. He described the programme as first of its kind in Nigeria and promised to do everything within his powers to make the programme a success in Ndoki land and the entire Ukwa East Local Government Area. Chief Obianyi assured the medical team led by its Administrator, Chief Emenike Osondu that he would give the programme the publicity it deserves and called on the people of Ukwa East to appreciate the good intentions of the Governor by sustaining their support for him. Also speaking, Hon. Azubuike extolled the health friendly Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for carrying everybody along in his administration and called for its sustenance. Earlier, the Administrator of Tender Love Home Health Care services, Chief Emenike Osondu said that the health challenges experienced in old age could be better managed through improved accessibility and affordability of healthcare services, hence the state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu deemed it necessary to provide free home health care services for the elderly from the age of 70 years and above as a way to improve their well-being and elongate their lives. According to the Health Care Administrator, the State Governor chose Ukwa East as the take off for the program to enable him examined how successful the program would be and called for support of all to enable the program succeed. In a vote of thanks, the Leader of the Councilors in Ukwa East Local Government Area, Hon. Emeka Amama gave special kudos to the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for giving hope to the hopeless in Abia state and for the choice of Ukwa East as the takeoff point of the program and prayed God to bless him and the medical team. The ceremony attracted the presence of all the Councilors, Supervisory Councilors and other special aids to the Executive Chairman.
