Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has reiterated his commitment not to disappoint fellow “Aba boys” whose expectations from him are very legitimate, stating that he would definitely leave Aba and indeed Abia State, better than he met them and set the foundations for a more prosperous future.
The Governor who stated this today while receiving a former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim at the Government House Umuahia, further insisted that a good number of his policies are futuristic in nature, some of which would begin to manifest their benefits after his exit from office.
He thanked the former Governor whom he described as his “friend and brother” for finding time to come to see what his administration is doing and to proffer useful suggestions to him. He congratulated Chief Ohakim for heading the Committee that successfully reactivated the Ahiajoku Lecture which he described as the intellectual pride of Ndigbo.
Speaking earlier, the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim told the Governor that his visit was “double barreled” in nature, first, to convey the appreciation of the Government and people of Imo State to Governor Ikpeazu for his support and personal participation at the 40th anniversary of the Ahiajoku Lecture.
Ohakim said that he was also in Umuahia to identify with Governor Ikpeazu’s effort to lay a solid foundation for the growth of Aba through the Enyimba Economic City Project. According to Ohakim, his study of the business model of the Enyimba Economic City showed that it has a clear roadmap to the development of not just Aba and Abia but the entire South East. He stated that he came with a top investor who has indicated interests in the project and would want to invest there.
He thanked the Governor for leading what he called the Agricultural Revolution in the South East through his various interventions in Palm Oil, Rice and Poultry, maintaining that policies such as these are key to the quest of our region for sufficiency in food production.
Secretary to Government, Barrister Chris Ezem, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uche Ihediwa, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Dr. ACB Agbazuere and other aides of the Governor witnessed the event.
