GOV IKPEAZU TO SUPPORT MOVE TO ESTABLISH TECHNICAL VARSITY IN SOUTH EAST REGION (Photos)

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Tuesday said he would support any move towards the establishment of a technical University in the South East region.

The Governor stated this when the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alaike Ebonyi State, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba paid him a visit at Government House Umuahia,

Ikpeazu said that as a strong advocate of Technical Education, the nation’s economy will blossom if Technical Education was given priority attention.

He stressed the need for Nigerians to take pride in patronizing made in Nigeria goods as a way of promoting the nation’s economy, expressing delight with the latest feat achieved by the University with the production of Akwete Cloth, an indigenous fabric popularly produced in Ukwa East LGA of Abia State.

Dr Ikpeazu expressed happiness with the legacies and achievements recorded by the outgoing Vice-Chancellor in the area of Technical Education and other fields of study, disclosing that the extention of the free school feeding programme from Primary One to Six by his administration has greatly boosted the enrollment into Public Schools across the state.

Earlier, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor Of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alaike Ebonyi State, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba said that the visit was to thank Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for adding value to his administration as Vice Chancellor and for remaining a true scholar in Governance.

He said that the University has come up with a programme towards boosting the production of Akwete Cloth in the University and solicited the Governor’s consideration to the setting up of the first Technical University in the South East.
