GOVERNOR IKPEAZU AWARDED ‘DISTINGUISHED AND PERFORMING FRIEND OF NULGE’.

Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has been honoured with the award of DISTINGUISHED AND PERFORMING FRIEND OF NULGE by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Abia State Chapter
Receiving the award at International Conference Centre, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu disclosed that the State government would review its policy on Local Government staff verification exercise, with a view to placing each staff at his proper level.
Dr. Ikpeazu said he wouldn’t tolerate ghost-worker syndrome in the local government. He urged the Council workers to expose the bad eggs among them. He stated that he conducted Council polls to deepen democracy and stressed the need for those who won to be magnanimous in victory and those who loose to believe that they could win next time.
In his address earlier, the State President of NULGE, Comrade Ijeoma Onyenaucheya said the union does not involve itself in the act of praise singing and sycophancy but is resolute on what is right and just, stressing that the Governor was given the award based on obvious realities on ground.
Comrade Onyenaucheya thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for doing well in office including conducting Local Government election, sustaining the payment of minimum wage, approving of 2016 promotion & conversion, building houses and employing relatives of the two council election victims in Isialangwa North. He also thanked the Governor for appointing Chief Okezie Ugboaja, a seasoned technocrat to be the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission.
Also speaking, the National President of NULGE, Comrade Ibrahim Khaleel said the NULGE in the whole federation will champion the Governor’s cause and represent him well. He said the Governor deserves the award as he did not consider the economic challenges of the present time but conducted a Local Government election.
