GOVERNOR IKPEAZU EXTOLLED FOR HIS COMMITMENT TO IMPROVING ABIA’S EDUCATION SECTOR

The Governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has been extolled for his untiring efforts towards making Abia, a state to envy in terms of education. Hon. Ezinwa Abiri, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, School maintainance and renovation made this remark when he held a meeting with the staff of Umuocha Model Primary School, Obingwa L.G.A, to ascertain their welfare as to report to the Governor.

Hon. Ezinwa Abiri who maintained that though the state had gone through certain financial challenges that had bedeviled it in many facets, assured the teachers that the Governor will in no distant time make sure that their plights are ameliorated and eventually brought to an end.
The Special Adviser to the Governor used the opportunity to access the level of renovation going on in almost all the school building that have been abandoned for donkey years, in addition to a new six room classroom block currently being built by the Ikpeazu’s administration. He used the occasion to handover a set musical instrument to the management of the school and urged them to use it with care.
Speaking, the Chairman, Parents and Teachers Association of the School, Chief Silas Ufumba thanked the Governor for putting up edifices in the school to enable the pupils study with relaxed mind in a conducive learning environment unlike in the days of roof licking. He also thanked Hon. Abiri for procuring a set of school band for the school and assured that this will eventually attract more pupils to troop into the school.
Reacting, the Head Mistress of the school, Mrs. Chikwendu Joy thanked the wife of the Governor for her efforts in ensuring that Abia pupils benefitted from the school feeding programme and expressed joy that Abia is the only State running the programme from primary 1-6.
Attendants at the meeting includes; Mrs. Ugochi Onugha, Education secretary, Obingwa LGA, Rev. Levinus O.S. Onwuma, a cleric of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, chief Chikezie Ihekandu, chief J. C. Monday, the prime minister, Obimgboko Autonomous Community, and Mr. Adimchinobi Onyenso, Senior Special Assitant to Abia State Governor on media. Others includes, former councilors, Hon. Nnanyereugo Agharanya, and Chief Ejike Abiri among others.
