Improper waste management is one of the challenges holding Nigeria and other developing countries to the jugular. It stems from indiscriminate littering of the environment with all sorts of wastes coupled with its attendant grave consequences. It is against this backdrop that the proactive government of Abia have decided to tackle the menace frontally. This is being kick-started with a pilot House-2-House waste collection and disposal at Umuahia and Aba respectively. The Umuahia pilot will be within Azikwe road and it’s environ while that of Aba will be at Ogbor Hill and it’s environment. An enumeration exercise for this pilot project will kick started on Friday, 21st April, 2017.
It should be noted, that the exercise is free of charge. Abians are therefore advised to cooperate fully with the enumerators in these specific areas with the necessary information and data, to ensure an organised waste collection exercises for a clean and virile environment in Abia State.
