The people of Ohanze Isiahia in Obingwa LGA have conffered the chieftaincy title of AHURUMBU 1 of Ngwa land on their in-law and State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

Speaking at Ohanze Primary School Field, venue of the grand reception in honour of the Governor and wife, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu announced that he will begin payment of Abia State staff salaries through individual
cheques to ensure that ghost workers do not benefit from the payments to be done with the Paris Club inflow. He reiterated that the 50% of the Paris Club refund must be used to pay salaries in line with the instruction of the Federal government, assuring that his administration will not divert the money to any other thing.

Dr. Ikpeazu assured the Ohanze people that their secondary school will benefit from school renovations that will soon commence in the State. The Governor, who provided 1.5 million naira for Ohanze Congress to be used for school fee of indigent youths, who are in tertiary institutions also promised to assist them in building their civic centre. He told them that he is indebted to them as they gave him the best wife on earth.

In a welcome address, the Chairman, Reception Committee, Ven. (Dr. ) Felix
Erondu said the people of Ohanze chose to honour the Governor because of his efforts and achievements in the last 19 months as the State Governor. He said that in spite of the recession, the Governor has made giant strides in infrastructure, health, security, housing, education among others. Venerable Erondu pointed out that their school was proud to have taken delivery of school desks, a three classroom building, teaching equipment as well as benefited from his free school meal initiative. He maintained that the people are happy that their daughter and Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has been a strong tower, complementing him in many ways including; building houses for indigent persons, payment of hospital bills for sick people, giving scholarship to students, sponsoring people to learn various skills, providing empowerments and others.

The Committee Chairman, who thanked the Governor for appointing their sons and daughters to positions of authority, pleaded with him to renovate their secondary school and assured the Governor of that the people of Ohanze are solidly behind him.
