Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the state ministry of finance led by Dr Aham Uko to commence payment of civil servants and verified pensioners from Friday, 27/03/2020 and conclude latest Monday 30/3/2020.
The directive, according to a statement by the Commssioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu was aimed at ensuring that workers and verified pensioners have money to stock up food in the event of a lockdown in the state.

The statement informed that the Governor has also directed the conclusion of pension verifications on Friday, 27th March, 2020.
“Governor Ikpeazu also mandated the Inter-ministerial Committee on Coronavirus to commence issuance of daily updates to citizens till further notice,” the statement added.
