INLAND PORT, PART OF ENYIMBA ECONOMIC CITY FLAGSHIP PROJECT…………..

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu says the proposed Inland City Port at the Enyimba Economic Project will form part of the flagship projects in the new economic city.

Receiving a delegation of the lnter Ministerial Sterling Committee on inland port on a fact finding tour of the proposed site of the project at the Economic City, Dr Ikpeazu said that when completed

, the project will generate about 7000 jobs which will help reduce unemployment.

 

The Governor represented by his Deputy Sir Ude Oko chukwu appealed to the Federal government to consider building another rail line that will connect Onne Port, Rivers state to help in the distribution of produce from the Economic City.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, who enumerated the components and composition of the project, said that due to its strategic importance, it has continued to attract investors interest both within and outside the country and thanked President Buhari for his interest in the project.

He called on all hands to be on deck to ensure the early completion of the project due to the inherent benefits and the high volume of jobs it will create.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Director of Legal department, Federal Ministry of Transport, Mr Pius Oteh said they were impressed by what they saw on ground as it met one of the compulsory requirements for the establishment of the port.

Mr Oteh assured that they will make recommendation to the Minister to grant license for the inland port project and expressed confidence that the project will see the light of the day as the project when fully completed would boost not only the economy of the state but the nation at large

He commended the state government for the proactive measure they have taken in engaging the host communities to ensure that the project is realised.

Also Speaking, the Chief
Executive Officer of the Enyimba Economic City, Chief Dan Uzo expressed confidence that the visit of the team will go a long way in fast tracking the realization of Governor Ikpeazu vision of making Abia a reference point in the comity of States.
