Leah Sharibu: Parents of Dapchi school girls cry out to Muslims

Parents of Dapchi School girls have appealed to fasting Muslims to use the last ten days of Ramadan to intensify prayers fervently for the release of Leah Sharibu, the only Dapchi school girl still in captivity of Boko Haram.

The parents made the appeal on Saturday, through their Chairman Bashir Alhaji Manzo, saying the last lap of the Holy Muslims month signifies salvation, deliverance and rescue, hence, the need to utilize the period to pray to God for Leah’s safe return.

“We call on all Muslims brothers and sisters to rededicate themselves to fervent prayers and supplications within this blessed period for the release of our daughter (Leah Sharibu) who is still in captivity of Boko Haram for over one year now.

“The prayers should also cover all those in captivity of the Boko Haram for their safe release, because it has been established that all prayers are answered in this blessed month,” Manzo said.

He also cried out to federal government to redouble effort by fast tracking the release and safe return of Leah.

According to him, despite some of the parents had their daughters returned while others had theirs dead, they remain resolute and will fight to the end to ensure that Leah is reunited with her family.

“The issue of Leah’s release is taking much time than we expected as whenever federal government’s delegations visit us they will assure us of her return, but to no avail.

“We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to put in more efforts to negotiate our daughter’s release, because she deserves to be free as any other free child”, the Chairman appeals.

Bashi Alhaji Manzo told DAILY POST that, the leadership of the Association is always in touch with Leah’s biological parents for any development regarding the release of their daughter.

“Leah’s mother, Mrs. Rebecca Sharibu, she is now in Jos, while the father Mr. Nathan Sharibu is currently serving in Yola, Adamawa state and whenever there is new development we do contact them”, he explain.

The chairman expressed optimism that the Association has not lost hopes that Leah will be returned to them safely and in one piece.

Recalled that, on the February 19, 2018 over one hundred students of Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi were abducted by Boko Haram terrorists.

The abducted school girls were returned about one month later leaving Leah Sharibu behind for refusing to denounce her faith.
