MGBEOJI TOURS RICE CLUSTERS, ASSURES OF GOVERNMENT’S ASSISTANCE

AS part of his avowed determination to take rice production in the state to greater heights this farming season, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof Ikechi Mgbeoji has embarked on a working visit to some major Rice Clusters, under the supervision of FADAMA, in the state.

Adressing Rice Farmers at Ahiaba Rice Cluster, in Isuikwato Local Government Area, Prof. Mgbeoji assured them of the readiness of government in assisting them with mechanized farm equipment for improved Rice production in the State.

The Agriculture boss also assured them of the supply of improved rice seeds and other necessary inputs for increased rice production this year.

At the Ugwueke Intergrated Rice Cluster, Bende Local Government Area, Prof Mgbeoji disclosed that Government embarked on massive opening up of farm roads across the State to ensure the free flow of farming activities this cropping season.

In their separate speeches, Mr. Okoronkwu Ibe and Chief Ikechukwu, rice farmers from Isukwuato and Ugwueke respective ly, appreciated the present administration under the leadership of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his immense support to Rice Farmers in the State and lauded his effort in ensuring that the State takes its right of place in the rice map of the Country.

The farmers used the opportunity to solicit for more collaboration of the State Government especially in the area of land preparation.

Prof Mgbeoji was accompanied to the tour by the Permanent Secretary Very Reverend Enerst Onyeukwu, Directors from the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Project Coordinator of FADAMA, Dr Mrs Ezinne Otuka.
