MONTHS AFTER ELECTIONS MRS. IKPEAZU UPS HER GAME INSTEAD…

This piece is inspired by personal experience and interactions I had with some people both in this platform and outside here prior to elections. Before the elections these people engaged me in a very hot argument. They argued that the Governor’s Wife humanitarian services were mere “interest-based bargaining” towards the second tenure agenda of her husband and Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. Many of them insinuated that she would stop after the election is won.

It is no longer news that the Wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu is called for humanitarian services. This certainly explains why she has through her pet project, Vicar Hope Foundation involved greatly and continuously in building homes, saving lives and touching souls in Abia State. These, she does by building houses for the indigent persons and widows, empowering women and less privileged individuals as well as providing healthcare to the people and paying hospital bills of patients and women who put to bed in various hospitals and health centers.

It is heartwarming to note that months after the elections, this Amazon and woman with milk of human kindness, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has built more houses and empowered more women in the State. She has also changed the narrative in Women August Meetings as well as bring in new innovation in health sector, and involved in aggressive healthcare among other things.

Mrs. Ikpeazu recently organised the 5th Abia Women August Delegates Conference (AWADEC) which attracted many women from the 17 Local Government Areas in the State, who participated in the conference. The women were exposed to various teachings on economic empowerment and morality as well as proper child upbringing. Qualified women from the LGAs have now been enrolled to receive loans to boost their Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and improve the livelihood of their various families.

The Governor’s wife has commenced Breast Cancer screening for women above the age of 40 years following the acquisition of the latest 2D Digital Stenographer Mammography machine through her Vicar Hope Foundation. Hence, on Tuesday August 27th, 2019 first about 20 persons were tested free of charge at Vicar Hope Mammography Centre, 183 Ndume Otuka Bypass, Opposite New State Secretariat, Government Station Layout, Umuahia.

Recall that prior to elections into the second tenure of Governor Ikpeazu, the Wife of the Governor did great humanitarian works among less privileged individuals in the State. It is on record that Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has affected many lives including carrying out Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness Campaign in the State, training of people on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. She equally intervened a in pathetic case of a two month old baby born with an abnormal mass attached to the back of her head medically known as encephalocele. She also intervened in another pathetic case of an 11 years old boy whose stomach was cut by high tension electric wire and nearly died because of inability of the parents to pay the hospital bills in addition to other numerous interventions.

Apart from several houses built for the indigent Abians, Mrs. Ikpeazu has empowered over 1,600 women, excluding those benefiting from revolving loan and the number of people she has empowered informally. She also, extended her empowerment gesture to women of the Christ the King Catholic Church (CKC), Aba, who she decided to train in various skills.

It is important to underscore the fact that the Governor’s wife, having an inborn spirit and passion of philanthropism, selflessness and Humanitarianism is much more determined to sustain this her monumental gesture to the people of Abia State.

Kudos to Mrs. Ikpeazu for her passion and the people of the State who are appreciative and hopeful of receiving more of her gestures in the days ahead.
