Founder and President of Vicar Hope Foundation Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has described partnerships and collaborations as vital tool for global development calling on nations that have technological edge to share same with less developed countries.
Mrs. Ikpeazu, who was speaking at the British House of Parliament during a meeting between British Members of Parliament the Honourable Gareth Bacon, the Honourable Paul Bristow and delegations of the Diaspora Community in United Kingdom, delegations from Vicar Hope Foundation, delegations from Delta State, as wells as development consultants, called on government and stakeholders in social development in the country to work hand in glove with the Nigeria diaspora community in order to drive home the development in the country.
She pointed out that a large collection of skills and talents exist among Nigerians living overseas who have been contributing to the growth of their host countries saying that it is time to harness and repatriate some of those skills to help Nigeria grow.
The Vicar Hope President, who is also the wife of Abia State Governor informed her audience that the purpose of her organization in attending the meeting was to seek sustainable partnerships that can help Vicar Hope Foundation expand its coverage and touch more lives in her home State of Abia.
Speaking also, the member of British parliament representing Oppington, the Honourable Gareth Bacon said potentials existing in the human capital sector of Nigeria are largely untapped and assured that he will make it a priority conversation in the work of the parliament, committees and while interfacing with diaspora communities.
On her part, a former Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth Her Excellency Josephine Ojiambo observed that trans-continental collaborations were beginning to change the narratives for most African countries and harped on the need to sustain such initiatives to pull Africa’s poorest out of the poverty line.
Highpoint of the meeting was a networking session that offered opportunities for talks between the Vicar Hope Foundation and donor institutions that have capacity to donate medical equipment and school books to Abia State.
